BUILDING REGULATIONS
To increase standards within the industry, the government, in association with HETAS (Heating Equipment Testing and Approval Scheme) has introduced new building regulations (Document J 2002) that require home owners to obtain Building Regulation Approval from their local authority, prior to installing a chimney lining or fitting a solid fuel appliance.

There is an exception. Home owners who use a HETAS registered company do not need to apply for approval, as these companies have passed strict examinations and have regular on site checks to ensure professional installation methods.
